Switchboards

Still on ceramic fuses?

Many houses around Lane Cove still have the switchboard they were built with. An upgrade puts a safety switch on every circuit and leaves room for solar and an EV charger.

Safety and compliance

What we do on every job, so the work is safe and the paperwork is right.

  • Certificate of Compliance

When we finish installation work we lodge a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work and send you a copy.

  • Safety switches tested

We test the safety switches on your board on every visit and tell you if any fail.

  • Smoke alarms checked

We check the date and the test button on every alarm we can reach and tell you which are due.

  • Network work by the book

As a Level 2 accredited service provider we can do the work on your connection that Ausgrid would otherwise need to book.

Pricing

A fixed price before we start

We do not quote by the hour for repairs or installs, because two jobs that look the same can be very different once the board is open.

We look at the job, tell you what needs doing and give you one fixed price. If we find something else on the way, we stop and ask first.

What happens on a job

  1. You call or send photos

Tell us what is happening and send a photo of the switchboard if you can. It tells us a lot before we arrive.

  2. We book a time window

You get a two-hour window and a text when we are on the way.

  3. We look and give you a price

We find the fault or measure up the job and give you a fixed price on the spot.

  4. We do the work and certify it

Nothing starts until you approve the price. When we finish we test everything and lodge the Certificate of Compliance.

Before we arrive

A few things that help while you wait for us.

  • Switch off at the main switch

If you smell burning or see sparks, and the board is safe to reach, turn off the main switch.

  • Unplug what was running

If one switch keeps tripping, unplug the appliances on that circuit so we can find the fault faster.

  • Clear the way to the board

Move anything stored in front of the meter box or switchboard so we can open it straight away.
